Exploring the Jonas Method & Lunar Fertility for Gender Swaying

What Is the Jonas Method?

In the 1950s, Slovakian doctor Eugen Jonas proposed that women have two types of fertility cycles:

• Biological Ovulation — the familiar menstrual cycle

• Lunar Fertility Cycle — linked to the phase of the moon under which a woman was born

Dr. Jonas believed that a woman is naturally fertile each month when the moon returns to the same position (or lunar angle) it was at her birth — regardless of her menstrual cycle.

This idea gained traction among natural fertility enthusiasts and later evolved into theories about gender swaying.

The Moon and Baby Gender

According to the Jonas Method, the moon’s zodiac sign at conception might influence your baby’s gender:

• Feminine Signs (for Girls): Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces

• Masculine Signs (for Boys): Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius

If you want a girl, try to conceive during your lunar fertile window when the moon is in a feminine zodiac sign.

How to Find Your Lunar Fertility Dates

1️⃣ Know Your Birth Data

You’ll need your date, exact time, and place of birth to calculate your personal lunar phase.

2️⃣ Use a Lunar Fertility Calculator

There are free tools online that calculate when the moon returns to your natal phase each month. Some apps also show the moon’s current zodiac sign.

3️⃣ Plan Intimacy Accordingly

Once you find your fertile lunar dates, check the moon’s zodiac sign on those days. Aim for those when the moon is in a feminine sign if you’re hoping for a girl.

Does it work?

Yes and no. Now, here’s the tricky part, most of the time you won’t see an LH surge with your spontaneous egg, so you won’t get the build-up of pH in your reproductive tract. The egg released for LFD is already polarized and ready for a female or male bearing sperm. The LFD egg will only release within that two-hour window given, and sperm will already be waiting for the egg, so conception will 100% happen inside the female or male phase.

The mistake that, well, we all made really, was believing that LFD and bio-O combined would be a golden sway. Sadly, after our second LFD and bio-O failure we had to dive deeper into the astrology side and work out why it wasn’t yielding the same results.

It really didn’t take us long to see why he advised against it. Of course, the science around bio-o mattered, he said it himself. So, LFD was a separate egg- you likely won’t get an LH surge as it’s completely spontaneous.
