Women Are More Fertile During a New Moon and Most Likely to Conceive During the Darkest Nights, Say Scientists…
Women may be at their most sexually aroused during a full Moon. A study says this is when women are at their most fertile and friskiest. Experts analysed the data women use to track their monthly cycle, and found women’s periods are in sync with the phases of the Moon.
All around the world, cycles are most likely to start around the time of the full Moon when night skies are brightest. On the flipside, a
woman will be most fertile with the new Moon - when it is barely visible. Light affects production of a hormone involved in regulating a woman’s monthly cycle. Plus, there are evolutionary advantages to a woman being most likely to conceive when the nights are at their darkest.
Infertility specialist Philip Chenette analysed the data from an anonymous mobile phone app that women use to track their monthly cycle.
By crunching together figures for more than 8,000 women from all around the world, he found a clear link between the timing of their monthly cycles and the phases of the Moon. Specifically, most women’s periods started in the fortnight that ranged from 11 days before the full moon to two days after it. And in almost a fifth of cases, they began on the day of the full Moon itself or the two days before or after it, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s annual conference in Honolulu heard. Dr Chenette said his curiosity was piqued by the fact that almost every woman’s menstrual cycle lasts four weeks – roughly the time between two full Moons. He said: ‘It’s really curious that women’s menstrual cycles
are every 28 days. ‘I mean, why is that? There is no medical reason that has to be. ‘It turns out that probably just goes back to evolution and the fact we used to live outdoors, and we were exposed to lunar cycles for thousands and thousands of years. And that is related to harvest and times of plenty and all these kinds of things and reproduction, of course, has to be timed to natural rhythms. It’s just a fascinating phenomenon.
’ Dr. Chenette, of the Pacific Fertility Centre in San Francisco, said that ‘the explanation may lie in the light of the moon regulating production of the hormone melatonin, which in turn, regulates a woman’s menstrual cycle.’ Professor Charles Kingsland, of the Hewitt Fertility Centre at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, said the explanation may lie in the cover of darkness.
If a woman’s period starts with the full moon, she will be at her most fertile a fortnight earlier, when the sky is darkest. The lack of light would have shielded amorous caveman couples from hungry predators. Dr Chenette added that the moon may have other effects on the body
and brain. He said: ‘There are people in emergency rooms, doctors and nurses, who
always worry about nights when there is a full moon.’
The New and Full Moon
The New Moon is when the Sun and Moon are aligned, with the Sun and Earth on opposite sides of the Moon. At New Moon, the Sun, the Moon, and Earth are in alignment. The New Moon is the first lunar phase, occurring when both the Sun and the Moon have the same ecliptic longitude. During the New Moon phase, the lunar disk is invisible to the naked eye, except when it is silhouetted during a solar eclipse. For many decades, the New Moon term
was used to describe the first visible crescent of the Moon after its conjunction with the Sun.
This thin waxing crescent is observed for a fleeting period as the Moon gets lower in the western skies after sunset. A New Moon, in astronomy, marks the beginning of the first lunar phase. Many believe that this symbolizes new beginnings, and some people even start new projects during this lunar phase, feeling that the Moon's energy will favour them.
For humans, the New Moon is a time to rest and to recharge the batteries, as the Moon is doing the same thing. At this time, the Moon blends with the darkness of the night for a brief time, only to come back to life with new forces. We should follow its example and prepare ourselves for the original work, plans, and "battles" of the next month. All around the world, cycles are most likely to start around the time of the full Moon when night skies are brightest. On the flipside, a woman will be most fertile with the new Moon - when it is barely visible.
The perfect time to…set intentions, whereas the full Moon is the time to reap the
rewards.
To start with, it’s important to know what zodiac sign the new Moon is in. Each month the Moon goes from invisible, to full and then invisible again in a course of 28 days. Such phases give out various levels of energy, which last for a few
days, before and after the event in a 3-day period. On each new Moon you say
cheerio to the last phase and welcome the fresh one with renewed energy.
The same principle applies to your full Moon ritual. You can go outside or if it's freezing cold you may prefer to find a nice quiet place indoors. During the winter I tend to stay indoors and delve deep into my cauldron, AKA a bath. I love taking baths, I get some quiet time and get to relax and let ideas and messages flood into
me. I feel like it’s my place where I connect to so many things with greater ease. Adding bath salts to help with any muscle aches and add some wellness. I often add drops of essential oils, usually lavender and clary sage. Of course lavender is said to sway girls down to producing negative ions, and it smells lovely too. Then I will place four white candles which symbolize the four corners of the compass in each corner of the bath. writing four intentions for the month and placing each under a candle.
This is my favourite…
"With the same purpose, we call you.
With one heart, we long for you. Child of the Earth, air, fire, and water,
In our lives, we welcome you"
Manifestation is setting your intention for something you want to happen and then witnessing it happen in the real world. In other terms, if you believe it, it will happen.
The “law of attraction,” or the belief that you get whatever you send out into the universe, underpins manifestation. When we manifest, we are pulling up energy from the earth to bring it to form. Remember your power.
